garlic

allium sativum

GARLIC. BECAUSE, VAMPIRES.

& because it’s a

FIERCE & VIGOROUS

cardiovascular tonic.

circulatory stimulant.

antioxidant.

antiviral.

antibacterial.

anti-inflammatory.

Garlic’s pungent compounds dilate blood vessels, opening them up so that blood can flow more freely - this slows down the heart rate & lowers blood pressure, promoting a calmer state of being. Despite the calmer state of being this induces, garlic stimulates more efficient and effective circulation, strengthening the heart, reducing fatigue, & warming cold hands and feet.

It’s a strength and vitality tonic that balances tension in the body & heart & that can make any savory dish SING.

but not all garlic is grown for the greater good. so,

HERE’S THE RANT ABOUT GARLIC, THE GOVERNMENT & PRISON LABOR.

did you know that the pre-peeled garlic you can buy is peeled by PRISONERS? most of this is done in china, where not only is the garlic bleached & polluted with heavy metals, “it’s peeled in conditions so grueling that inmates’ fingernails fall off & they resort to using their TEETH.”

This kind of bullshit is happening at home too, where inmates are paid $.013- $0.52 per hour, an atrocity made legal by the 13th amendment which allowed INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE to be used as ‘punishment for a crime,’ & which was followed by BLACK CODES that were legally passed in many states to TARGET, INCARCERATE & thus ‘legally’ ENSLAVE black people.

Those glaringly obvious acts of barbarity may have been outlawed last century, but the the idea has only evolved into today’s situation where people of color are disproportionately incarcerated, & where “sentenced individuals are REQUIRED to work if they are medically able,” or else face punishments like SOLITARY CONFINEMENT- aka psychological torture.

Some companies profiting from this virtually free & forced labor? McD’s. Wendys. Starbucks. Victoria’s Secret. Nintendo. Avis. Walmart. oh yeah and, FEDERAL PRISON INDUSTRIES INC. aka UNICOR, a corporation run by, you guessed it- the US GOVERNMENT.

If you’re still wondering why you owe REPARATIONS even though you never owned a slave, & your great grandad never owned a slave, go ahead and read that again.
